Review about Creative Thinking (Week 11)

Well, we have come to the end of our Creative Thinking lesson because next week is week-12, our assessment week, so we don't need to come to school. That is what all students hope from school. Ok, I had lots of fun during the lesson because the lecturer was fun and interesting. I like it when he teased other foreign students in our class, especially the Korean student, yeah I'm mentioning Seulong now. Haha. I absolutely know he was joking and tried to make the whole class brighter because the class start quite early at 9am and some of them still in their dreamland.

Let me talk about the lessons. Well, there is 1 out of those tasks that we did which I will never forget it, the tag game in public! Omg just imagine it I feel so embarrassed and I promise myself to not ever play it in public! I already 17 year old but I still playing tag game? Ok, but truthfully it was fun! Although it was embarrassing, if you want to learn to be confidence and brave, I suggest you guys to play this game many times. I'm just kidding!
Basically, I learn lots of things from creative thinking lesson, such as brainstorming, mind mapping, break the rules, analogical thinking, force connection, etc. I feel both lateral thinking and force connection are interesting because in force connection I saw lots of novel and unique things which some of them I never see it before and through this, I learn how to think to create things with combining two or more functions into one objects, while through lateral thinking I indirectly learn how to think out-of-the-box and come up with creative results.

Truthfully, I do like how our lecturer explained the lessons and how he connected it with our daily experiences, but I don't really like the lesson. Maybe I will give score 6 out of 10? In my point of view, I just feel like some of the tasks are too complicated and sometimes I feel like there is no connection with our lesson, or maybe I'm the only one who think about that? Btw, this is my true feeling,ok! Truthfully, I'm a person who doesn't really like a group work. Instead of saving times, we just waste more times when doing a group work, because we need to hear other people's opinions and discuss with each other then later on come up with the results. I do agree that we could learn lots of things from the group work  and the results are better rather than the individual works. Yeah, but still, I more prefer to do the individual works, no matter how difficult and how much it is.

I hope the next lesson will be more fun and less homework please, although I know it is impossible. And the lecturer will be funnier and nicer. Yeah, I just hope everything the best for the future lesson. Overall, I hope all things that I learn from creative thinking lesson will be useful and I could apply it on my future design.

Thank you for reading~ ^^
Bye bye~~

Reflection of Felix Thorn Documentary

Felix Thorn
Well, I just thought he went crazy but his idea and creativity was amazing! He tried to make how to perform music without people playing but just with computer, and he made it. When I saw this, it reminds me of the Japanese character, Hatsunemiku (I don't know how to spell because I'm not their fans), they used like a projector to create all the characters and only the guitarist, drummers, etc on the stage. Just looking at that it makes me think that they are crazy because they are cheering and screaming to nothing and keep swinging their hands with holding light sticks.

In my opinion, by creating these computer music, I think it will be very amazing to perform on stage with the addition of the LED lights it makes the whole stage looks classic and elegant. Therefore, the audiences will enjoy and adsorb his music. By looking at his new idea, could I be able to create something amazing like that? I hope I could.

Overall, it was such a crazy yet creative idea that I ever seen. It produces acoustic noises with only using ordinary objects. Cool~!

Reflection of Fitbit Force

Fitbit Force
Well, when I first saw this design, I just thought it was a simple watch wrist-band. But actually, there were lots of functions in it. It was just so cool that this wrist-band also could count how many stairs we climbed. When talked about distance traveled and calories, it reminds me of treadmill which also include those data. In my imagination, it was like an evolution from a heavy-big-treadmill into a light-small-wrist-band. The most unexpected thing is that it also received alerts for incoming calls. Although it only applied for iPhone running iOS7 or higher, but it really looks like a very advantages devise. It was like the changes from the very old-model phones into a very modern phones which could access all PC apps. The design is also very simple and classic, so that we can match it with our clothing styles.

Force Connection 2 (Week 10)

Well, this week we learned again about Force Connection. In class, our lecturer gave us class activity in group to create either a toy or a kitchen appliance. My group chose the kitchen appliance and came out with "Temperature Chopstick". It is called as a temperature chopstick because the function is to measure the temperature of foods that we want to eat and as well as a chopstick. This appliance is for all ages group who really like to use chopstick. It is useful because we already know the temperature before we eat. There is always this small accident like we don't know that the foods are still hot and we directly put it inside our mouth then we feel like we put our mouth in a fire. Therefore, to avoid this accident, we came with "Temperature Chopstick". For the design, there is nothing special, just adding the digital temperature at the end of the chopstick. The chopstick is a metal chopstick, so the heat of the food from the tip could vine till the other end of the chopstick.

Then, for the toy design, this is what I made , "Panda's Neck Pillow Doll"

Doll can be counted as toy, right? This is a panda doll which at the back there is a zip. When the zip is opened, it serves as a pouch to wrap the panda doll and there are straps which we can hold and it serves like a bag. When you wrap the doll, there are somethings which pop out at both right and left side to serve as a neck pillow.
This design is for both toddlers and those who already enter a primary school. It can be also for teenagers because it serves as a neck pillow. This design is very useful because when you bring your daughter, she can bring along the doll to play with and when you are tired, there is a neck pillow for you.
Those circles are what I'm talking about. These things will pop out then it serves as a neck pillow. I don't know how to say it in English, so I just search the picture and circle it.

Picture of the Day #10

Chinatown Mid-Autumn Festival
Last Sunday, me and my friends went to Chinatown to look at the mid-autumn festival. This is my second times I went to a festival without my parents and only with my friends. I just felt something different if I went with my family rather than with friends. Usually, when I went with my family I just felt comfortable and I chit-chat a lot with my brother. It can be said that I spent lots of my time chit-chatting with my brother instead of with my parents. Haha. But, compared hang out with friends, sometimes I don't know why but I felt insecure especially when we came back almost at 11pm. Personally, I never hung out till that late, usually I already at home before 6pm. So, I guess I need to adapt with my new life now. Hahaha.

Well, after we arrived in Chinatown, the first thing that we did was ate our dinner. I didn't take picture because this is not the food blog, so I just enjoyed my dinner. When I finished my food, suddenly there were 2 people sat in front of us and asked something to my friend. I didn't hear what she said, because my friend couldn't understand Chinese, so she answered "English please?" and unfortunately those 2 people also couldn't speak English. Then, when I looked at them, the other person which was a boy, asked me again in Chinese, I didn't know what exactly he meant, but I just guess because from those long sentence I only understand the word "this food" and "behind". With the addition of his gesture, I guessed he asked "are you buy these food from behind this installation?" and I said Yes, then he nodded and left. Through this, I now understand how important body language is when you communicate with foreigners.

After we finished, we wandered around and stopped at like a tattoo shop(?), like the one those Indians draw on their hands. It costed 5 dollars and lasted for 2 weeks. Then, my friend who is Chinese wanted to try. I took a picture during the tattoo making.
It really looks so pretty.
I didn't really enjoy the festival, you know why? Because of this!
Short People Problems~~
Truthfully, I couldn't see anything that time, I just took this picture while straighten my hands. =="

There were a rap performance, I didn't know who was that but my friend said he was the most famous rapper in Singapore and I already forgot his name. Ok, we tried to stand as close as possible to the stage and there was a big space in front of the big speakers and my friend stood in there. I just felt they were so stupid, after around 3 seconds they came back and said that they understood why there was a big space there! HAHA!
There was a performance which they played instruments with their hand. I wondered if they didn't hurt themselves, but they really enjoyed their performance.

I found something unique, there were a group of people taking photos, but the one who held the phone was a little boy kid. He even managed those people where should they stand and what should they pose. It was so funny and amazing!

He even knew how to set the phone ! Wow~
This was one of those unique costumes
Lastly, there were fireworks as the ending of the festival.

Well, I enjoyed the festival but it was not like what I expected. I'm type of person who doesn't like crowded places.Overall, the festival was nice and I could make this as my new experience. Unfortunately, all of them spoke Chinese, so I didn't understand what they were talking about and laughed when others were laughing. Hahaha.

On our way to Chinatown.

Lots of lanterns~

The big lanterns
Cute lanterns~ Hahaha

Reflection of BBC Documentary

Truthfully, I really don't understand what the documentary is about and when I saw the video was almost 1 hour, I was like "what? Oh okay.. No comment." Well, I will try to write anything what I get from this documentary.

By doing different and unusual things, we could gain more creativity because we break up our usual pattern and our routines. Our right brain is more active in solving problems compared to the left brain. Our right brain obviously catch any information quickly and think more creatively.
In a nutshell, creativity is a skill which our brain works by itself to create something unique and new to our environment.

Reflection of "Shawn Achor: The happy secret to better work"

Shawn Achor

Well, in this video, he argued about what people saying, "If you work harder, you will be more successful, and if you become more successful, then you will be happier" and proved that we could change the formula of successful. I strongly agree when he showed a graph with one dot above the average curve and said that we need to be more than average - just like that one dot - because normal means merely average and if we just learn something merely average, we will remain merely average.
In my opinion, the more we grow, the more we learn something new, and through these experiences we receive tons of new and unique things which we need to learn  more in-depth rather than just look at it and ignore or even delete it.

In some section of his talk, he mention that the way to become happy is not to become successful, but how we could train our brain - journaling our experiences, meditation, and exercise - to think positive instead of negative. If we think positive, our intelligence raise, we work faster and more creative.

In a nut shell, happier can be reach if we try to think more positive and learn from something odd and try not to delete it.
